StructureCo-op PriciplesHampden Park Co-op became a legal co-op in June of 1993. We follow the six Rochdale principles (see the History page) that were reaffirmed in 1966 at the International Co-op Association to govern co-ops internationally.Co-op Staff and VolunteersHPC is purposely understaffed by paid workers because we seek to utilize and value our volunteers. Our working membership includes around 500 households at any given time. There are about 15 part-time and full-time paid staff members, including a General Manager and coordinators who place and receive orders, manage the store, and direct the volunteer staff. Also included are several storekeepers who are paid to do specific tasks such as produce, soups and sandwiches for the deli, and closing precedures.Board of DirectorsThe Board of Directors at HPC is elected annually by the membership. The board represents the interests of the membership in setting policy and direction for store operations and also oversees the management of the co-op through the General Manager. |
