As you know, we have had an eventful past few weeks. We signed a lease with the IOOF for the vacated space next door. We have removed the old carpeting and tile in preparation for a new floor. The installation should be well underway by the time you read this.
The walls and ceiling have been cleaned in preparation for painting. We will also need lighting and ceiling fans.
I am getting bids for cheese and deli coolers. We plan on moving these two departments to the new space. The old deli cooler for the time being will become the nut cooler. Bread and cookies, coffee, chips, and cereals will also be moved to the new space.
We plan to get new windows, and we’ll install bar-style seating in front of the Raymond Avenue window. There should be space for at least eight stools. We will also set up another kitchen for sandwich and salad making, as well as cheesecutting. (See Gregg Richardson's article on page 1 for more on the expansion.)
We had a good Mayfest despite the rain, which luckily held off until the afternoon. We had yummy samples, good specials, antiques, the local St. Anthony Park Community Council, and several local entrepreneurs, as well as music and a little dancing. We sold 24 cases of organic strawberries by the end of the day! We also had a wide selection of plants, and many positive comments.
Watch for notices in the store about upcoming events at Hampden Park Co-op!
