Orientation

If you wish to become a volunteer at Hampden Park Co-op, sign up for an orientation in the co-op entryway. All volunteers need to be familiar with these four documents before starting their first shift.

Orientation Summary

Be ready: Bring your own hat. Wear suitable clothing. You may want to bring a jacket or sweater for working in the cooler.

When you arrive: Put away your gear (if you aren’t sure where to put it, ask). Wash your hands. Report to the floor manager.

When you leave: Have the floor manager initial your Rolodex card. If you’ve finished a month’s volunteer time, get your wallet card punched.

Signing up on the calendars: Read the instructions on each calendar. Note what time your shift starts. Only sign up for spots that are open. If you can’t find a shift that fits your schedule, talk to a floor manager.

Need to cancel? Cross your name off the calendar, or call the co-op and ask a staff member to do it for you. Don’t leave a voice mail message! We aren’t set up to handle voice mail.

About your discount:
1 shift = 3 hours/month = 15%
2 shifts = 6 hours/month = 21%
4 shifts = 12 hours/month = 28%

Your discount is for a household with 1 or 2 adults. If there are more than 2 adults in your household, you will need to work extra shifts.

Remember: You work this month for next month’s discount.

About your Rolodex and wallet cards: Your wallet card is color-coded for your discount level. Please let the cashier know if your discount is currently different than that indicated by the color of your card. Each household has one Rolodex card. Make sure it’s filed alphabetically! At the end of the calendar year, each household fills out a new Rolodex card and receives new wallet cards. The color of your wallet card changes each year. You may work a few shifts ahead. You may also take a month or two off and receive no discount for that time period.
