What a difference a month has made! We have gone from walls of snow to bare ground and beautiful spring weather. You will notice in the store that we have seeds and bulbs for planting, and of course the Mayfest plant sale is approaching fast.
The date for the sale will be the weekend of May 7th – 9th. Coldhardy seedlings will be delivered to the store the last week in April, with the rest of the plants arriving the week of Mayfest. As in past years, we will have a fair outside on Saturday. There will be different local vendors offering food samples, the neighborhood community council, music, and the Hampden Park Co-op board of directors.
There will also be specials around the store for you to take advantage of; plan on getting your Mother’s Day strawberries at the co-op! We hope you come for the plant sale and stay around to take advantage of the festivities.
This newsletter marks the first time that many people may be seeing the newly designed Hampden Park Co-op logo. We have been starting to sneak it out into the public realm through store signs and our Web site. The board of directors decided last year that along with all of the other changes occurring at the co-op it was time to redesign our logo.
Former employee and member Abigail Vaughan and her partner Gabriel Basham were picked out of a group of initial submissions to work on the logo. The board of directors had two goals with the logo: it should represent the neighborhood we operate in and also what we are all about, food!
Along the right side you will find carrots, peas, and a pepper that represent our mission of providing great food to our members. On the left you will see the old-style lantern top that is a classic symbol of the Saint Anthony Park neighborhood.
This spring the exterior signs will be repainted, which will catch the exterior of the building up to the expanded interior of the store. Better late than never! You will be seeing the new logo more and more around the store; we hope that you enjoy!
Please take note of two upcoming store closures. We will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 4th, and also Memorial Day, May 31st.
We have had a lot of great feedback in our comment box in the front of the store. When making comments or suggestions, please be as specific as possible so that we can best respond.
