Thanks to everyone who volunteered during our very busy Thanksgiving season. It’s during these busy seasons that we realize just how neccessary volunteers are to the success of our co-op.
We’ve had two book club meetings during the past few months, with about a dozen people at each one. The books discussed were Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, and The Ominivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Co-op members have expressed a lot of interest in the topics discussed in both of these books. Therefore we are now considering establishing a monthly group that can meet to discuss green living and local eating, and perhaps experiment with some of the skills needed for eating more locally, such as cheese-making and canning. Watch for further information! If you have ideas or suggestions for this group, drop me a note in the “Membership Coordinator” envelope in the entryway.
Many new members have entered our doors during the past few months. Some are from North Country Co-op, others from the new artists’ lofts on University. We welcome all of you. If you have questions about membership or volunteering, be sure to read the Member Handbook you received when you joined. (If you didn’t receive one, you can ask the cashier for one.) If you need more information, you may leave me a note in the membership coordinator envelope, near the volunteer calendars in the entryway.
